La autora: Bernardine Evaristo es autora de ocho libros y muchas otras obras producidas y publicadas que abarcan los siguientes géneros: novela, poesía, ficción en verso, relato corto, ensayo, crítica literaria, teatro y radionovela.

Su obra se fundamenta en su interés por la diáspora africana. Es profesora de Escritura Creativa en la Brunel University London. "Con Mujer, niña, otras" fue ganadora, junto con Margaret Atwood, del Premio Booker 2019.
